ABOUT MACAU
Known as being the "Las Vegas of the East", Macau is often thought of as a gambling paradise, given its plethora of casinos. But its rich history, first as a collection of small fishing villages then as a Portuguese colony for over 400 years, makes it a fascinating place to explore. Wander through the winding streets and admire the mix of architectural styles. Sample the local cuisine or dine at some of the most authentic Portuguese restaurants in the region. Then, visit some of the casinos to gawk at the opulence and over-the-top decor or to try your luck at the slots.
Located in the western Pearl River Delta, just across from Hong Kong, it's easy to travel between these two special administrative regions of China. All it takes is a ~1-hour ferry or bus ride and a quick immigration process for a fun day trip or weekend getaway.
